How to prepare for your first treatment

There a few things to consider when booking your treatment appointment, let me talk you through what you might want to think about.

Firstly, timing:

  • If you want to look your best for a special day, the optimum time to have anti wrinkle toxin treatment is around 4-6 weeks before. This allows time for any bruising to settle and for the botulinum toxin to be working to its best ability, whilst still allowing time to come for a free follow up treatment if necessary.

  • After you’ve had a treatment its sensible to avoid vigorous exercise for a couple of days so don’t come the night before that big race you’ve been training all year for!

  • We want the treatments we’ve injected to stay in the right place so avoid booking in for a facial at the spa within a fortnight.

Alcohol - this can cause you to bleed more easily and therefore bruise more after injections. Be mindful of keeping alcohol consumption low in the 24 hours before treatment.

Makeup - we’ll remove the makeup directly over the skin where we are injecting, so you might wish to remove it yourself before attending. Also, you shouldn’t apply makeup for 6 hours after your treatment. This will be an important timing consideration for some people.

Questions - if this is your first time, you’re going to have lots! This is great, it’s so important to me that our patients understand the treatment options fully so they can make decisions that are right for them. The best way to make sure of this is to come with lots of questions, we’ll go through everything you need to know.

Although there is no real recovery time following botulinum toxin injections, there are things to consider before and after the treatment that will make your whole experience smoother!
